INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller is teaming up with Legacy® and youth groups across the state to help end teen smoking, as part of a bold national youth smoking prevention effort sweeping social media.

Legacy is the public health foundation that works to prevent youth smoking through its nationally recognized, proven-effective truth® youth smoking prevention campaign. With advertisements already on air, truth’s new “Finish It” campaign asks young people to be the generation that finally ends the tobacco epidemic – an epidemic that costs 480,000 American lives each year due to tobacco-related diseases, while also costing our economy billions and taking a serious toll on families and communities.

In just two weeks, truth’s “Finish It” campaign has exploded on social media, gaining more than two million followers. Advocates are encouraged to share truth’s “X Your Profile” app to show support for the campaign and spread anti-smoking messages among their social networks. Visit www.thetruth.com to join the movement.

“For generations, we have been fighting tobacco use – especially among young people – to reduce addictions and save lives,” Zoeller said. “Smoking rates have dropped dramatically since we learned of the dangers associated with tobacco, but a percentage of our youth continues to get hooked year after year. I hope Hoosier teens will take up this challenge and work with their peers to end life-long, often deadly addictions to nicotine. Now is the time to ‘Finish It’ and end teen smoking for good.”
