Economic group starts campaign

The Marshall County Economic Development Corp. has launched a campaign to increase private-sector participation in programs aimed at growing employment and business activity.

The four-year campaign, named Invest in Marshall County, is based on evidence that funding from both the public and private sectors is needed in the competitive world of economic development. The campaign already has drawn commitments from 19 businesses or organizations.

The MCEDC, which was established in 2007, also issued a strategic plan to guide the organization’s growth during the next five to 10 years. That plan includes four specific programs focused on business expansion and retention, business attraction, entrepreneurship and innovation, and workforce development.
