The Indiana General Assembly passed a two-year, $31 billion state budget late Wednesday night that includes modest increases for education spending, with more money for suburban schools and some charter schools but less spending on Indiana's urban schools.

The House voted 69-30 and the Senate voted 40-9 to approve the budget at about midnight.

The budget is the culmination of four months of negotiations between House and Senate Republican leaders and Gov. Mike Pence.
