GOP celebrates with Lincoln Dinner

Fittingly on the 150th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's assassination, those speaking at Wednesday's Shelby County Republican Lincoln Day Dinner referenced the 16th president several times.

"I'm very proud that the basic principles Abraham Lincoln believed in are the same principles that the Indiana Republican Party has championed since the beginning of their existence," keynote speaker Mike McDaniel said.

McDaniel, the executive director of governmental affairs at Krieg DeVault and a former state party chairman, referenced a campaign song from Lincoln's time, "Ain't You Glad You Joined the Republicans," in touting the party's principles.
