Indiana doctor creates fund for Nepal earthquake victims

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — A Terre Haute doctor has created a fund to purchase essential supplies for those displaced by the earthquake in Nepal.

Dr. Prakash Karki is planning a trip to help the people of his homeland. He’s paying his own way, but tells WTHI-TV others can help pay for supplies by donating to the “Hoosiers Helping Nepal” fund. Proceeds will be used to purchase tents, baby items, clean drinking water and other supplies.

Nepal’s capital and other densely populated areas were devastated by a strong earthquake Saturday that caused causing walls to topple and buildings to collapse. More than 6,100 people died and more than 13,800 have been injured.
